THE TRAINER TALES OF A SHOE ENTHUSIAST IN NYC: PART 2

Thursday, 21 January 2016

The Comme Des Garçons PLAY line launched in 2002 when a magical collaboration between Rei Kawakubo and polish artist Filip Pagowski together created a rough draft of the brands signature logo - the love heart with eyes.

The PLAY lines ability to run throughout changing trends and seasons, whilst keeping the same simple key colours really attracted me to the original collection. As they release new items to the line the originality of PLAY continues, with fresh bold graphics incorporated within their clothes and accessories.

I have wanted a pair of the CDG PLAY X Converse collab since the first time i came across a pair of the cream high tops a couple of years ago on Instagram (where many of my obsessions begin). So obviously i thought it vital to purchase a pair while in New York, what better excuse?

The girls i spent my time with in America will tell you the lengths we went to on my quest to find a pair, but eventually i found these babies in Barney's department store. So, sorry about the current CDG spam on my instagram but it will only ever stop when i fall out of love with these shoes.
Don't hold your breath.

THE TRAINER TALES OF A SHOE ENTHUSIAST IN NYC: PART 1

Still reeling after an incredible 5 nights in the Big Apple, but obviously my first few posts since being back are going to pay homage to my one true love, trainers. (yet again!)

Now if you love trainers (sneakers - if we are still going with the new york theme) then you'll most certainly have heard about Flight Club. Never have i seen anything like it, hundreds and hundreds of pairs of rare trainers.. basically heaven?

Definitely pay it a visit if you're ever in New York, even if you're just there to take an instagram snap.

The trainer culture has gone from strength to strength over the last 5 years through the 'sports luxe' trend which has been communicated by many of the big designers and then filtered out through the popular high street stores. The popularity growth of brands such as Adidas Originals, Ralph Lauren Sport and Ellesse just prove that retro sportswear can be worn on any occasion.

So if you aren't already on this sporty trainer hype, kindly get your act together.

TRUE LOVE AND TRAINERS

Saturday, 9 January 2016

Instagram has always been my best friend when it comes to discovering new brands, in particular footwear brands. So i wasn't surprised when i came across No. 288 and loved them. The brand values itself on how it "respects the traditional methods of footwear construction, as well as mixing original ideas in producing a new alternative in craftmanship."

Trainers have always been my weakness so its no shock that I've already started saving for a pair of these and with similar prices to Common Projects another favourite brand of mine, theres a possibility i may need to take out (another) loan.

I love the simplicity of the SS15 collection with pastels, nudes and suede trims these real leather sneakers are something i can't miss out on.

WELCOME TO MY CRIB

I'm biased but yes i know we do have the best flat at Uni.

HOME IS HOME, NOTTINGHAM IS THE NEXT BEST THING.

Home is home, but Nottingham is the next best thing.

First day at Uni and we are sent on a treasure hunt, "typical fashion course" most would snigger. However how would i have found my favourite places otherwise?

Independent shops for the lovers of the printed page, an indie kids vintage haven and a bar that offers happy hour 3 times a week. Don't tell me you get to find all these places on your first day at uni when you are studying something perhaps a bit more intellectual (boring).

MORE THAN A YEAR ON ...

So this has been a long time coming, but i've finally sat down and actually wanted to blog.
Probably because i'm going to New York next week and you know the whole "new year, new me" bullshit..I'm actually going to give it a go ???!!!

However studying Fashion Communication and Promotion at University requires me to blog the hell out of everything so better starting late than never i suppose.

So first term was in many ways as expected, 3 months of blurry drunk nights and equal amounts of days spent in bed with a Berocca recovering. But it was also a term full of new mates, new experiences and new shoes which definitely exceeded all of my expectations.

Bear with me, it's been a while but here goes....
